Why this matters
Australia is in the middle of one of the largest intergenerational wealth transfers in its history. $150 billion passes through Australian estates each year - yet just 6.5% of wills include a charitable bequest, compared to 15% in the UK. Research by Cancer Council NSW found that half their supporters were unsure how straightforward it was to include a gift, a third wanted guidance and one in ten specifically wanted trusted law firm recommendations.
The infrastructure to meet that need has been largely absent in Australia. That is what the Planned Giving Platform is building.

How It Works
A supporter is thinking about a gift in their Will
They visit their charity’s website and find a clear, professional pathway to book an initial consultation with a participating Wills & Estates solicitor - embedded seamlessly within the charity’s existing pages.
They choose a firm and request a consultation
Supporter select from vetted, independent solicitor firms. The charity funds a fixed contribution towards the initial consultation. There is no obligation to use any particular firm, and no obligation to include a gift.
The solicitor advises on the supporter’s circumstances
Independent legal advice covers assets, family situation, capacity, tax and estate planning more broadly. The supporter decides what to do next. The solicitor’s duty is to their client, not the charity.
Aggregated reporting
Where the supporter provides explicit consent, the charity is notified of a pledge and can thank and steward accordingly. All other outcomes are de-identified, aggregated in reporting to help charities strengthen their bequest programmes over time.
Who the Platform is for
For Charities
If your charity promotes gifts in Wills, the Platform gives you an ethical, solicitor-led referral pathway that sits within your existing supporter journey. No managing solicitor relationships, no undue influence risk, no complex set up. Just a professional option for supporters who are ready to act.
For Wills & Estate solicitors
The platform connects your firm with warm referrals from charity supporters who are actively considering a bequest. There is no cost to join, and the model keeps solicitors at the centre of professional estate planning.
Supporters access the Platform through their charity’s website - not directly through this site.

The pilot is running in NSW and Victoria with 5 founding charity partners and a growing network of solicitor firms. We are actively recruiting firms in both states. We are actively looking to expand the pilot to QLD in the next few months.
Firms and charities outside NSW and VIC are welcome to register their interest now.
